“Where are we going to sleep?”, asked Liam.

I turned to my children. “We will find a solution,” I promised, even though I had no idea how.

That night, we slept in my car, parked in a parking lot. I reclined the front seat as far as it would go. The children huddled in the back, covered by the few blankets I had taken from the bags I had placed on the sidewalk.

“It will be like camping,” I told them with forced cheerfulness.
